Finding the right scent for your space

The right fragrance transforms a room. Here is how to match scent intensity, notes, and mood to your space.

Room size & intensity

Start with your room size. Larger open spaces — living rooms, great rooms, and open floor plans — carry fragrance well and can handle bolder, more complex scents at moderate diffusion settings.

Smaller or enclosed spaces like bathrooms, bedrooms, and home offices benefit from lighter, fresher profiles. Start at a lower diffusion setting and increase gradually until the scent feels balanced, not overwhelming.

Tip

If a scent feels too strong, reduce your diffuser intensity before switching fragrances. Most Aura House oils are designed to perform at lower settings.

Scent families & notes

Fragrances fall into broad families that set the mood of a space:

  • Fresh & citrus: Bright, energizing — ideal for kitchens, entryways, and morning routines.
  • Floral: Soft and inviting — well suited to bedrooms and sitting areas.
  • Woody & amber: Warm and grounding — perfect for living rooms and dens.
  • Gourmand: Cozy and comforting — great for colder months and entertaining spaces.

Think about the atmosphere you want to create, then explore scents within that family. Top notes give the first impression; base notes linger and define the lasting character of a fragrance.

Seasonal suggestions

Many customers rotate scents with the seasons. Lighter citrus and green notes feel right in spring and summer; warm vanilla, spice, and wood notes suit fall and winter.

With the Scent Swap program, you can change your fragrance anytime without waiting for your next delivery — so your home always matches the season or your mood.
