Why is my payment failing?

If your subscription payment did not go through, it is usually a quick fix.

Getting a payment failure notice can feel a little alarming but it's almost always a simple fix. Your subscription is still here waiting for you and updating your payment only takes a minute.

Most common reasons

Card declined
Your bank may have flagged the charge. A quick call to let them know the charge is legitimate usually does the trick.

Insufficient funds
Make sure your balance is topped up

Card expired
Update with your new card details

Incorrect card number
If your card was replaced, the number on file may no longer match. Re-enter your new card details.

Payment method no longer active
Card on file may have been closed or deactivated

Card doesn't support transaction
Some prepaid or limited-use cards can't process subscription charges

Authorization was revoked
Your bank removed permission for the charge

Using Shop Pay?
Your card details are managed inside your Shop Pay account rather than directly on ours. Log into your Shop Pay account to update them there and everything will sync automatically.

Most issues resolve once you update your payment method. See Managing your subscription → Update your payment method for the step-by-step instructions, or head straight to your customer portal to update it now.
